As a result of the development of the City of Nanaimos’ Cultural Plan, the Cultural Managers Working Group was formed. Comprised of the Executive Directors of the professional arts and cultural organizations in the city, one of this groups tasks is establishing and facilitating initiatives that promote and celebrate local arts offerings, to encourage and nurture our local creative culture.
Employing Awarewolf Creative to develop a brand and communications plan to effectively represent their mission, we began with three facilitated 2hr strategic creative brainstorming sessions. Here the group of eight collaboratively identified their current audiences perspectives (through empathy mapping), and established their target audience, key messages, initial content, communication objectives and brand direction.
From here the identity was designed to represent the diverse arts offerings with some neutrality, while ensuring an easy to identify, dynamic and engaging visual language communicating professionalism and personality. An accompanying communications plan was implemented including social media, online surveys, community programming and engagement/launch events.
Audience: Local Nanaimo public at large. Elderly, young families and tourists.
