Owner, Communication Designer & Creative Facilitator Perceptive listener, big hearted problem solver and collaborator, Co-Founder of the Nanaimo Design Nerds and a certified Graphic Designer with the RGD. Jackie has taught as a Sessional Professor at VIU for 7 years, held Instructor positions at NSCAD University and Capilano University, was the PechaKucha Night Nanaimo City Organizer for 2.5 years, Entrepreneurial Lead with Start up Nanaimo, is a Yogi, and Mother – with over 15 years of design industry experience and a practitioner of a human centred approach (Design Thinking) in every aspect of work and life.
Growing up in South Africa, studying in the UK, the Netherlands and Canada, Jackie completed her undergraduate degree in Communication Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Followed by a Graduate degree at NSCAD University, Jackie has dedicated her design skills to teach, learn and practice the distinctions of design for positive impact, working with both local non-profit cultural organizations, start ups and mid size companies.

Communication Designer RGD
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design, Ross spent the first 7 years of his career at leading Canadian design studios Hambly & Woolley (Toronto) and Subplot Design (Vancouver) before opening his own studio, Becoming Design Office, in Victoria, BC.
Over the past 8 years the studio has grown into a strong, process-driven group of designers & collaborators, well equipped to create compelling and relevant strategic brands, identities, campaigns, product packaging and interiors. they service a broad range of industries including the not-for-profit sector, universities, cooperatives, architects, photographers, and environmental companies. Their work has been recognized by international award shows, publications & institutions including: Graphis, Creative Review, Communication Arts Magazine, Print Magazine, Applied Arts Magazine, HOW Magazine, Design Edge, Lovely Package, The Dieline, Summit Awards, Hermes, Graphic Design USA, FITC, and Inspiracion Magazine (Asia).
Ross is an active member of the design community at a national level. He has volunteered with the Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) for over 5 years in the capacity of mentor and educator to young designers across Canada. He is also a member of the national events committee, acting as both an organizer and moderator at Design Thinkers, Canada’s national design conference.
Graphic Designer
Born and raised in Germany and now calling Canada’s West Coast home, Andrej is a passionate freelance graphic designer bringing a much valued new and old world perspective and aesthetic to his design projects. Andrej holds a Communication Design Post Graduate Degree from the University of Mannheim in Germany and a Bachelor of Design from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. Andrej specializes in developing in conceptually strong, clean and refined designs for corporate literature, branding, packaging design and websites.
